We are seeking an Applications Engineer to help support Sales by developing accurate and timely technical and commercial proposals for engineered water systems. The Applications Engineer also provides direct Customer support throughout the Sales phase. The role further supports Project Execution by ensuring turnover documents accurately reflect the as-sold conditions and technical requirements of new projects. In addition, the Applications Engineer contributes to maintaining standard costing libraries and collaborates with other departments as well as directly with MECO suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal Generation

  • Review customer inquiries and specifications to determine technical and commercial requirements.
  • Prepare conceptual designs and perform basic calculations for estimating purposes.
  • Develop cost estimates and identify value-engineered or cost-saving alternatives.
  • Research and evaluate equipment options for suitability, availability, and pricing.
  • Interface with engineers and drafters to prepare drawings and technical aspects for proposals.
  • Explore innovative approaches to customer application challenges.
  • Maintain accurate proposal documentation and reference materials to support project execution upon award.

Sales Support

  • Collaborate with Sales to determine the best path forward regarding MECO’s proposed solutions and align on strategy with the customer
  • Attend customer meetings (pre-bid, bid review, technical clarifications, etc.) to provide technical support alongside Sales.

Standard Cost Development

  • Gather and maintain costing data to develop standard libraries.
  • Obtain supplier quotations and purchasing input for material costs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to validate labor-hour estimates.

Project Turn Overs

  • Align budgets with customer purchase orders.
  • Prepare and deliver turnover packages (technical and commercial) to Project Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
  • Conduct technical review meetings to confirm scope of supply.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related discipline).
  • Proficiency in professional-level English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and customer requirements.
  • Proficient in interpreting Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Experienced in reviewing equipment layouts with a strong understanding of space planning.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
