MECO Waste Heat Plant Provides Fresh Water for Cogeneration Plant In California

The MECO ST5400 Waste Heat Desalination system is supplying purified water for industrial purposes in Ripon, California. The system produces 90 gpm and utilizes waste heat in the form of low pressure steam that is the by-product of a power generation turbine, which provides power to the local utility’s electrical grid. MECO Waste Heat Units are typically used in cogeneration and offshore desalination applications.

MECO’s Waste Heat evaporators are typically constructed of 90/10 copper nickel alloy or stainless steel. The shell and tube configuration allows for lower maintenance on feedwaters that have a higher fouling or scaling tendency. Installations are supplied as packaged plants with controls, pumps, condensate recovery, all piping, instruments and valves necessary to operate the plant.
