Project Engineers


 MECO is seeking Project Engineer candidates to perform mechanical/process engineering design in both our Stafford, TX and Mandeville, LA offices.

Specific responsibilities will vary from project to project and include process design of thermal, membrane, and ion exchange systems; thermal and physical design of heat exchangers, evaporators, and condensers; structural design of skids and frames; and selection of pumps, valves, and other related system components. Project engineers often participate in all phases of projects from applications to detailed design and through documentation, testing, commissioning and are also the primary contributors to product development.  Ideal candidates are committed to quality and the continual pursuit of excellence. 

Minimum qualifications:

  • BSME and 4+ years of applicable experience.
  • Must have strong computer skills in Word, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally


Desirable experience:

  • PED/CE/CRN/ASME Section VIII Code design
  • Water purification systems
  • BioPharm and/or offshore oil & gas process systems
  • Manufacturing

Marine Team Project Engineers

Marine Project Engineers will work with a dynamic team designing and constructing various types of plants used to purify water all over the world in the marine and offshore oil & gas environments.  The Marine Project Engineer may be located in either Mandeville, LA or Stafford, TX.

We are looking for engineers with experience in design engineering of mechanical components of systems and with water equipment such as reverse osmosis units, softeners, carbon filters, de-ionization systems, evaporators and waste heat evaporators.

Daily duties will include labor estimation for fabrication and assembly of process equipment, cost estimating, design and sizing of process equipment such as pumps & heat exchangers. Additional duties will include: supporting equipment testing and commissioning, proposal and quote preparation for offshore and marine industry mechanical equipment, and customer documentation. 

Minimum Requirements:

·         BS in Engineering, ME or EE preferred; ChE acceptable

·         5+ years experience in focus industries (packaged process equipment manufacturing supplied to oil/gas/offshore industries

·         Cost estimating experience

·         Strong computer skills in Word, Excel and CAD-related programs

·         PLC & OIT Programming, Ladder logic


Desirable Experience:

·         Familiarity with offshore and marine specifications, such as:  AMS, ATEX, API

·         Prior experience in a manufacturing environment

·         Willingness to travel, as required

This position will have daily responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:  route piping given a process flow diagram, model equipment, structural steel, piping assembly and spool drawings.  May also be required to prepare BOM and equipment details. 


Educational Requirements: 

  • Minimum of HS diploma or equivalent
  • Formal Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks training, preferred
  • 1+ years Inventor experience, preferred
  • Knowledge base must include drafting methods & procedures
  • Must have thorough working knowledge of Word and Excel


Experience must include at least one of the following:

Piping:  3 years of experience routing piping in a 3D model & creating the material take off.

Structural: 2-3 years of experience as a Structural Designer

Mechanical: 2-3 years of Machine Shop drawing & design experience

For all positions, experience with Autodesk Vault is preferred




Customer Service Rep

If your background includes customer service with inside sales experience, have prior experience in an industrial or commercial parts department and are computer savvy; you may have the skills to be a successful Customer Service Representative for Mechanical Equipment Company Inc.  This is a fast-paced position in an environment that creates lots of paper. 

Minimum requirements: 

·         College graduate, preferred

·         Minimum 2 years of experience as a CSR with some inside sales experience of commercial and/or industrial parts

Engineering Project Managers

MECO is seeking Project Managers.  The ideal candidates will have experience managing multiple projects in a design/manufacture/support environment in biopharm and/or marine industries.  Project management includes interfacing with customers, vendors, contractors, and internal project teams to ensure high quality systems are provided on schedule and within budgets.  


  • 3+ years Project Management experience in a design/manufacturing environment
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Good business judgment and the ability to effectively interact with customers and project teams
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing operations
  • Strong computer skills

Mazak Lathe Machinist (2nd Shift)


You will be required to produce machined parts to required tolerances using Engineering drawings, manufacturing operating instructions and sketches.  Will be required to set up and inspect own work with minimal supervision.  All candidates should have a strong work ethic, a dedication to quality and pride in his/her work.


MECO will only consider candidates who meet the following minimum requirements:

HS diploma or GED

Minimum 5+ years practical experience in a machine shop

Must have experience on a Mazak Lathe or equivalent machinery

Must be able to pass written mechanical aptitude test

Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.





MECO on the North Shore is seeking a Test Technician experienced in reading schematics; installing control circuits and wiring; troubleshooting wiring and control & instrumentation panels; configuring level, temperature and pressure transmitters, conductivity monitors, transducers (I/P’s) and VFD's using field communicators and other testing equipment.  Additional duties include performing I/O checklist point assignments, operational safeties, and tune control loops; start unit assembly, note discrepancies, perform test addenda and take shakedown data.



H.S. diploma or equivalent

5+ yrs experience. 

Must have a strong mechanical background

Must be able to read PD drawings, identify symbols, align pumps & motors and documentation. 

PLC experience


As a manufacturing environment appropriate attire required to complete application, test and interview.


Assembler – 2nd Shift


Must have knowledge of basic pipe and instrument fitting.  Experience fitting piping, running instrument tubing, and installing components and vessels on skid-mounted equipment, preferred.   Must be able to read & understand P&ID, general arrangement and isometric drawings.    Fabricate and install piping and support structure.  Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install various metal and plastic pipes, valves and fittings.


Minimum Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 3 yrs experience in a related trade
  • Will be required to pass a written mechanical aptitude test


This position will begin on the first shift for MECO specific training.  Once training is complete, the position will be on 2nd shift (1-9 p.m.).  A shift differential will apply once the move to 2nd shift occurs.

Fabricator – 2nd Shift

The job requires the employee to fabricate from fabrication and piping drawings.  The ideal candidate must be able to operate all equipment used in the fabrication department.  Will be required to read and understand any engineering drawing/specs with little or no supervision.  Must be able to produce structurally sound welds, be able to fit, fabricate piping systems and complex layouts with minimal guidance.

This is a second shift position (1 – 9 p.m.) following MECO specific training.  A shift differential will apply.


  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 5 years exp fabricating and performing TIG welding on stainless steel
  • TIG welding experience in full penetration welds in all positions

Desired skills:

  • ASME vessel experience

Sheet Metal Mechanic/Cladder – 2nd Shift

Individuals with experience covering evaporators, pipes, and tanks with insulating materials.  Must be able to cover around steam and hot water piping using hand tools.  The ideal candidates will have experience using a foot shear, hand roller, hand crimper and hand bender on sheet metal and to install the sheet metal around insulated pipes. 

Other job duties will be to apply trowel mastic on the insulation materials, cover pipes, cut sheets of insulation using a knife and cover, seal or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers.

Minimum requirements:

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent

3+ yrs experience

Willing to work overtime as needed 


Following MECO specific training on 1st shift, this position will be on 2nd shift (1-9 pm).  A shift differential will apply.
